Hi my name is Kristy I’m an embryologist at the Nevada Center for Reproductive Medicine and today I’m going to be talking about support group. The emotional toll that infertility can take on a couple or an individual going through them one of the various fertility treatments that our office can provide. It is a really huge emotional struggle there’s highs and lows throughout each treatment and we see this, the entire staff sees daily in we know what it what what a toll it can take as we see these patients every day and our heart is with you and it is important to be able to have an outlet to be able to talk to a friend or loved one or somebody else who’s going to the same the same struggles you are so at NCRM and we do have a fertility Journey Support Group and that group meets once a month and this is really a time that for anyone who’s interested it could be somebody who’s currently going through infertility struggles or just a friend or family member so they can actually gain a better understanding really want to be involved in our community and let our patients and even those who are our outpatients know that we really care this is our profession this is our passion and you really want to change the message. We want to relay a message of Hope That You Are Not Alone 1 and 8 couples are affected by infertility this is more of a common struggle than most people think a lot of people don’t like talking about it it is very private is very sensitive and so even friends and family members have the best intentions sometimes don’t know exactly what to say so the fertility Journey support group is not just for NCRM patients it’s for our community here in Reno and it’s really a time for everyone to get together and kind of really really very casually and openly not platform Q&A just be able to talk and be with each other and maybe meet a friend who’s going through through the same struggles you are. It’s also I know for myself third-party perspective is really important and we do consult with a psychologist Diana Wright here in town she’s really an amazing woman and an amazing professional who seeks sees a lot of couples who are struggling with infertility so a third-party professional social psychologist really might provide some support to the couple or the individual who’s going through the emotional highs and lows and then lastly the national infertility association Resolve is a really great support system there’s online forms that can be accessed through that actual infertility network association and we just want our patients and people to be able to change this conversation and really break the stigma associated with associated with infertility it affects many it is very trialling and it’s also very rewarding so infertility and a strong support system is extremely important throughout any type of treatment in our office or out of our office for anyone who’s trying to meet their goal and having a child. Please check out our website in nevadafertility.com, as well as our Facebook page to find out more about when our fertility Journey support group meets and a specific places and times or give our office a call and we can let you know when our next one is. This is for patients and non patients this is for everyone and most importantly it’s really for our community.
